Does God really get gender assignment wrong? Did Cher Bono have two sons and no daughters? Will the Cookie Monster ever be thin?

These questions do no plague my mind as I close my eyes to sleep at night. They really do not. We’ve all seen the documentaries where this or that individual claims to be a woman in a man’s body, or a man in a woman’s body and those of us with breast are not at all sure how these things happened. Men don’t even watch the documentaries if there is a baseball, football, or basketball game on the television. Some men will watch LMN before they will watch a gender reassignment documentary, so is it news because the little blonde girl who was Chastity Bono has become a large blonde man named Chaz? If you’re Cher Bonno, it’s the kind of news that was once delivered by telegram; it scared you to death and you were not certain how to receive the messenger.

The first time I was aware there were more than two sexes would have been while in high school. We knew that Dennis kid did not act like the other boys, but were unaware that there were gay males. And “yes” Sandra was a bit more burly than we were, but “hey” she was really good at sports, so we thought ‘pick her for our team, she’s great at softball.’ In that other time, we did not really care, and it’s probable that in today’s society we would not care either if we were not continually having it shoved down our throats. I have great friends, some straight, some gay, and some…well, I don’t ask and they don’t tell me. It’s not my business what your sexuality is and I don’t care, and if that’s very Un-PC of me, you’ll have to forgive me because I have more to worry about on a daily basis than what you and your partner do in the bedroom.

If Chastity Bono wants to be Chaz Bono and look like Perez Hilton then that’s he/she or it’s prerogative because she is Cher Bono’s child. While I can empathize with Cher, my family has it’s own set of issues on a daily basis. We can only hope for Cher and Chaz that this is the thing that makes the world a little smoother. For the moment, my main concern is how to get a yoyo untangled for my almost 3-year-old granddaughter so that we can have peace in the house for two minutes.
