Dumb as a Box of Rocks: The Great Generation?
My brother and my cousin, both intelligent men, are constantly condemning their parent’s beliefs with insults to their intelligence. Both my aunt and my dad watch Fox News (lately labeled the Propaganda station) and it is this that the younger generation of males believes contributes to their elders’ lack of intelligent information. They believe that it would be better for their parents to watch MSNBC, ABC, and CBS, instead of Fox. My dad, like many Americans, has found that while watching MSNBC he has been insulted by the “so-called” anchors because he believes in the right of free speech and the ability, inherent to all Americans, to disagree with the men in power-President, Congress, and the House of Representatives.
I, too, watch Fox News, read the Washington Post, and the Washington Times, Yahoo News, Newsmax, Newsbusters, and many online papers while finding out the important information that we all need to know. It does not take long to figure out what the true propaganda is within the pages of reading, and which networks are hoping to gain monetarily from this administration. I find it amusing that Fox News reports and allows their viewers to comment, even when they disagree with the reportage on Fox, but other media (let’s call them mainstreamers) not only disallow for opposition but stay within the guidelines of the norm. The norm is that you must agree with your government officials, and anyone who chooses to voice an opinion that does not adequately match that of the Obama administration is labeled Nazi, terrorist, racist, astro-turf, and many other names that are meant to deny any validity of those making the statements. So, wait a minute, who is dumb as a box of rocks and who is reporting propaganda?
Propaganda is the deliberate spreading of misinformation with intent to harm. There was no information or footage of the last Tea Party held on the 4th of July, except for the reporting on Fox News, why? Why, because the average working American attended these parties while the elitist and uninformed inheritant of entitlement did not want people in America to know that there is a movement, within the country, toward a better government and less spending. The web sites sighting information of the vast Health Care Reform bill are not listed openly, but often “foo-fooed” as bogus sites intended to derail this administration, yet these sites feature actual documents from the government bills. Perhaps my brother and my cousin should take a bit of time out of their busy schedules to read the truth, and stop harassing their parents about the news they are viewing.
The Great Generation managed to survive a depression, two world wars, and an ever-changing world, but they never had their elected officials condemn them, or refer to them as nuisance. We all could take a few pages from the lives of these men and women to learn what it takes to preserve freedom, honesty, integrity, and personal financial security. You will not find those in the Great Generation owing debts that they incurred but could not afford, and seldom do these people have credit cards, cell phone bills, or many of the other “enlightened” tools that we use everyday and that are growing beyond our control. So who is dumb as a box of rocks? It would seem that belongs to the generation that fails to appreciate what our elders accomplished while raising us and giving us the benefits that our children will not have to enjoy, because we have lived too long in the luxury of not thinking about the future.
This is dedicated to the Great men and women of the Greatest Generation of modern time. Thank you!

it is really coming to a Revolution, my friend.
Vrajavala, I’m afraid you’re too right. I’m still quite angry with brother and my cousin for their attempts to make their parents feel stupid, and I think it is past time that many who have sat idly put their heads into the noose with the rest of us to fight this thing. Even people (5000 on Friday and Saturday in protest of Chavez’s interference in the Honduras situation) across Latin America, who stand a much greater chance of losing their lives due to their countries dictators, are choosing to stand up and be counted, while Americans just sit on their thumbs waiting for the “other guy” to do something.
